Parental Guidance

Be an Active Part of Creating the Change You Want for Your Family

What is Parental Guidance ?

Typically, a therapist will meet with your child and then will meet with you separately. Parental guidance sessions are usually about 30 minutes long, though they can be extended if needed. We do bill insurance if you are in-network. We also offer longer family intensive sessions at a separate rate.

These sessions are not about judgment or criticism. Instead, they’re a supportive space where we work together to identify parenting blind spots, strengthen your connection with your child, and remember that both of you are still growing and learning.

Parents often leave these sessions feeling validated, more grounded, and less stressed.

Porter Charles, LICSW

I’m here to help you show up as the parent you want to be.
With your child’s permission, I’ll share insights about their goals, challenges, and what they’re trying to communicate. I work with you to strengthen your connection with your child, offering guidance, perspective, and tools to support them in meaningful ways. Along the way, I’ll help you set aside past experiences, trauma, or biases that might get in the way, so you can be fully present. I may also give you resources or simple “homework” to practice between sessions, making it easier to bring positive changes into your daily life.
